Ahmedabad Police Detain 290 Suspected Bangladeshi Immigrants in Major Late-Night Crackdown

Ahmedabad Police detained 290 suspected Bangladeshi immigrants during late-night raids under Operation Delta Hunt. The crackdown targeted Chandola, Vatva, and Juhapura, with authorities confirming foreign nationals, investigating alleged fake Aadhaar cards, and expanding similar operations across Gujarat.

Ahmedabad police have detained 290 suspected Bangladeshi immigrants during a series of late-night raids conducted under a large-scale operation named Delta Hunt. The action forms part of a broader statewide campaign against illegal immigration and marks one of the most extensive enforcement drives carried out in recent months.

The operation targeted several areas of Ahmedabad, including Chandola, Vatva, and Juhapura. Authorities launched coordinated raids across these locations as part of an intensified effort to identify and verify individuals suspected of residing in the state without valid documentation.

According to officials, 131 of those detained have already been confirmed as foreign nationals. Some reports indicate that 166 Bangladeshi nationals were found in possession of fraudulent Aadhaar cards, raising concerns over the use of forged identity documents. Meanwhile, another 160 individuals remain under interrogation as authorities continue the verification process.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi described the operation as a reflection of Gujarat's zero-tolerance policy toward illegal immigration. He stated that the state administration is taking firm action against undocumented foreign nationals and those found using forged identification documents.

The crackdown is not limited to Ahmedabad. Similar raids have also been carried out in Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara as part of the wider statewide initiative. Officials are continuing investigations and document verification procedures across multiple districts.

Authorities have indicated that deportation proceedings are expected to begin for individuals who are ultimately verified as undocumented foreign nationals. The ongoing operation underscores the state's intensified focus on immigration enforcement, identity verification, and coordinated action against illegal residency across Gujarat.
